SL wins four straight

SPIRIT LAKE – The Spirit Lake Baseball Team wrapped a good week with four wins. After beating Estherville Lincoln Central on Monday, the Indians defeated Storm Lake 13-4 on Wednesday and swept Western Christian 6-2 and 7-6 on Thursday. Stats for the Western Christian games were unavailable.

Spirit Lake notched its second straight win of the week, outscoring host Storm Lake 7-0 over the final three innings to win 13-4 on Wednesday.

Gavin Kramer was the winning pitcher as he went three innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on three hits with one strikeout and two walks. Cole Thate shut the door the final four innings, giving up one earned run on no hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

The Indians pounded out 13 hits with Kramer helping his own cause by going 3-5 with three RBIs. Keaton Leach also was 3-5 with an RBI. Tony Eckert finished 2-4 with an RBI while Tony Eckert was 2-5 with a double and three RBIs. Jeremiah Eldridge and Thate each were 1-3 while Gavin DeVos was 1-4. Eldridge has two RBIs while DeVos had one.

A Class 3A Team, the Indians still have two weeks of games before tournament play. Spirit Lake is at Emmetsburg on Monday, at Sibley-Ocheyedan on Thursday and at Boyde-Hull/Rock Valley on friday next week.
