Titans come up short in five-set match vs. St Mary’s
LAKE CITY – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire came as close to victory as any other time in the past two seasons with a 3-2 loss to St. Mary’s of Storm Lake on Thursday.
The Titans dropped the first two games to the Panthers 25-14, 25-23, but rallied to win the next two by scores of 25-21, 25-16.
In a hotly contested third contest, St. Mary’s pulled out the 16-14 victory.
The Titans finished with 30 kills in the match with Toni Alesch and Emma Feldhacker each with nine while Kylea Fehr and Madison Hough each had four. Madison Norris had 29 set assists.
The Titans had their best serving night in four matches, with 96 of 103 successful serves with eight aces. Ariah Sanculi had three aces.
Defensively, Sanculi finished with 35 digs while Taylor Park had 23 and Fehr had 22. Norris also had three blocks.
The Titans also played South Central Calhoun on Thursday, losing 3-0 by scores of 25-17, 25-8 and 25-19.
The Titans had nine kills with Alesch recording three. Fehr, Feldhacker and Park each had two. Fehr had eight digs and Park had seven. The Titans were 42-of-45 serving with Heinrichs going 11-of-11 with two aces.
GT/RA (0-4 overall) are home in Graettinger against Manson-Northwest Webster on Thursday.
