Algona swimmers split dual at Boone
BOONE – The Algona High School Girls Swim Team split a double dual with Boone and Perry. They lost to Boone 71-23 and beat Perry 53-41.
“It was a good night for the girls as we saw several times better than last time we swam,” said Algona coach Jim Fisher. “Our goal is to beat our previous time each time out.”
Jessica Anderson won the 100 free in 58.45 seconds. The 200 medley relay team and the 400 free relay team both finished second. The 400 team consisted of Laura Stowater, Natalie Lausen, Bridget Finley and Anderson in a time of 4:20.96 and the medley team of Lausen, Anderson, Kali Garman and Finley had a time of 2:08.56. Lausen was second in the 50 free in 28.26.
Alexa Gilbert placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.40 and the 200 freestyle relay team of Melody Goodman, Stowater, Finley and Anderson placed third in 1:57.53. Garman was also third in the 100 butterly in 1.24.67.
“Next week we have our home meet and will swim Boone again with the goal of better times,” said Coach Fisher.
Algona (2-1 in dual meets) hosts Boone and Spencer at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12 at the Algona YMCA.
