ELC struggles at SL Tourney

SPIRIT LAKE – Estherville Lincoln Central had a tough weekend at the Spirit Lake Volleyball Tournament, posting a 2-4 record on the day.

The Midgets’ lone win came against Okoboji, ELC’s second win over the Pioenners this season, by a score of 21-13, 21-16. ELC also defeated Sibley-Ocheyedan, but scores were not available.

In other matches, ELC lost 21-16, 21-9 to Spirit Lake for the second time this season. Also, ELC lost 17-21, 21-15, 15-11 to West Bend-Mallard, 22-20, 21-17 to Sheldon and 21-14, 21-17 to North Union.

Rylee Miller led ELC’s offense on the day as she had 16 kills while fellow middle hitter Sydney Swanson had 12, Molly Diekmann had 11, Lindsey Jensen had 10 and Brianna Fix had nine.

ELC’s Kendall Evans had 49 set assists for the tournament.

ELC (3-6 overall) is home against Pocahontas Area on Tuesday.

The ELC Junior Varsity placed second at the tournament.
