Titans handle Hawks at homecoming, 50-20
GRAETTINGER – Kolton Roth ran for 249 yards and four touchdowns while Jacob Conlon ran for 13 yards and two touchdowns in leading Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire to a 50-20 victory over St. Mary’s of Remsen on Friday.
The Titans went to work early with Roth scoring on runs of 1 and 13 yards in the first quarter. He also ran in the two-point conversion after the first touchdown, which came at the 7:42 mark of the quarter. His second score came with 29 seconds on the clock for a 14-0 first quarter lead.
St. Mary’s came back with a 1-yard run early in the second quarter, but GT/RA’s Simon Cahling added a 3-yard run with 8:04 left in the half. The Titans led 20-8 at the break.
St. Mary’s worked at a comeback with a 5-yard run to start the third quarter. But Conlon came back with touchdown runs of 17 and 11 yards. Roth had a two-point conversion also as GT/RA led 34-14 after three quarters.
Roth added a 38-yard run to start the fourth quarter and two-point conversion for a 42-14 GT/RA lead. St. Mary’s added a 15-yard touchdown run with 7:26 left in the game. Roth blocked the extra point attempt. Roth wrapped up the game with a 2-yard run with 2:@3 remaining with Cahling running in the two-point conversion.
Conlon attempted just five passes, completing two of them for 44 yards. Nate Larson had one catch for 22 yards and Chris Conlon caught the other pass for 20 yards.
Conlon had two interceptions and Sam Skattebo recovered a fumble.
Eric Sundall led the defense with five solo tackles and eight assists. Kolton Roth had five tackles and five assists and Cahling had four tackles and seven assists.
Roth, Skattebo and Jordan Thompson each had a tackle for a loss.
GT/RA (5-1 overall, 3-1 in district play) is on the road against Clay Central-Everly on Friday.
