Lakers overcome slow start to beat Ellsworth

The Iowa Lakes volleyball team bounced back from a first set loss and took care of Ellsworth 3-1 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play on Wednesday in Estherville.

The Lakers led 19-14 in the first game before the visiting Panthers (8-18, 1-6) mounted a rally and stole a 26-24 victory. Iowa Lakes responded with three straight wins by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-15.

Freshman RaeAhna Harmon led the Laker attack with 19 kills and five ace serves. She also had 19 digs. Kali Mumm and Julia Beckius each had 10 kills. Jazmin Benally had 34 set assists and also had 19 digs.

Iowa Lakes (13-13 overall 3-3 in the ICCAC) is back in action at 7 p.m. Monday, hosting the Waldorf Junior Varsity.
