Estees, Sheridan earn all-state nod from INA

Two Estherville Lincoln Central players received all-state honors as selected by the Iowa Newspaper Association for its 2016 All-State Football selections.

ELC offensive lineman Giovanni Esteves and ELC linebacker Robert Sheridan both were named to the Class 2A Second Team.

Esteves, a 6-4, 310-pound senior helped open holes for an ELC offense that rushed for 1,821 yards and 22 touchdowns and helped with protection on an offense that finished 139 of 23-5 for 1,862 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Sheridan finished with one-seventh of ELC’s total solo tackles with 79 of the team’s 551. He also had the same margin of the team’s total tackles as he finished with 108.5 compared to the team total of 753. Sheridan also had both an interception and a rumble recovery.
