No. 5 Wolfpack outruns ELC
With Western Christian starting three players over 6 feet while Estherville Lincoln Central doesn’t have a player taller than 5-10, the ELC players may have seemed like their moniker.
The Wolfpack, ranked fifth in Class 2A, proved too much for the Midgets to handle in a 69-43 win on Tuesday.
ELC trailed 19-6 after the first quarter and 42-13 at halftime. Shots started falling for ELC in the third quarter, but it was just enough to keep pace with the visitors as the Wolfpack led 60-31 to start the final period. After getting a 35-point lead to start a running clock, Western Christian inserted the rest of its bench.
ELC freshman Jadynn Moore scored eight points in garbage time as ELC won the fourth quarter 12-9.
Morgan White led ELC with 11 points and six rebounds. Karmen Hazen and Rylee Miller each scored seven points, Josie Condon had five, Lindsey Jensen had three and Sydney Swanson had two. Condon had three assists.
Western Christian recorded 17 steals in the game. Erika Feenstra led the Wolfpack with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Ashley Veerbeek finished with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
ELC (4-15 overall, 3-9 in the Lakes Conference) is on the road against Emmetsburg on Friday.
