Bulldogs overpower ELC on home courts

While Estherville Lincoln Central played better against visiting LeMars on Thursday, the Midgets lost 9-0 to the Bulldogs.

“We played a lot better than we did against Spencer,” said ELC coach Tony Klein. “We competed a lot better and hit the ball a lot better. We still struggled in singles, but played much better in doubles.”

In singles play, Isaac Jorgenson lost 10-2 to Jake Malik, Logan Newhouse lost 10-0 to Kyle Marek, Trevor Friesner lost 10-0 to Jake Thompson, Toby Jensen lost 10-0 to Zach Wingert, Michael Houseman lost 10-2 to Seth Oetken and Jose Saavedra lost 10-0 to Josh Pratt.

In doubles, Jorgenson and Newhouse lost 10-6 to Marek and Thompson, Friesner and Houseman lost 10-2 to Malik and Wingert and Jensen and Saavedra lost 10-2 to Pratt and Caleb Kettelsen.

In junior varsity play, ELC picked up a 6-1 win in doubles as Ahries Nissen and JT Christensen won 6-1.

In the other doubles match, Nick McClurg and Edwin Morales lost 6-2.

In singles play, Nissen lost 6-2, Christensen lost 6-0, McClurg lost 6-0 and Morales lost 6-0.

ELC is at Spirit Lake/Okoboji today.
