Titans finish third at Okoboji meet

ARNOLDS PARK – The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Boys Golf Team did well to place third out of nine teams at the Okoboji Invitational at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park on Saturday.

Boyden-Hull won with 347 while Okoboji Black shot 351 and GT/RA shot 358.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s Norman Schiemer took medalist honors with an 82 while Marcus Rens of Boyden Hull shot an 84.

Josh Petrich led the Titans with an 85 while Brady Rosacker shot an 89 and Brady Olson and Treyton Cacek each shot a 92.

Non-counting scores were a 94 from Tyson Kruse and a 100 by Noah Flaherty.

“For the most part, the guys golfed well considering the weather and the course,” said GT/RA coach Brent Dyhrkopp. “We struggled on the greens.”

The Titans are home Tuesday against East Sac County and South Central Calhoun.

Team scores: Boyden Hull 347, Okoboji Black 351, GT/RA 358, Central Lyon 371, Spirit Lake 383, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 383, Pocahontas Area 385, Okoboji Maroon 402, Sibley-Ocheyedan 442.

GT/RA 166, Emmetsburg 167, West Bend-Mallard 234

GRAETTINGER – The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire boys edged Emmetsburg in the Palo Alto County meet on the Titans’ home course in Graettinger on Friday.

GT/RA finished with a 166 to the E’Hawks 167. West Bend-Mallard finished with a 234.

Emmetsburg swept medalist honors as both Hunter McCallister and Jace Carlson shot a 40. McCallister won a playoff to earn top honors.

However, the Titans had two 41s and two 42s to pull out the win. Tyson Kruse and Tretyon Cacek each had the 41s while Josh Petrich and Noah Flaherty had the 42s. Emmetsburg’s other two sores were a 43 and a 44.

Non-counting scores for the Titans were 45s from Brady Olson and Brady Rosacker.

Southeast Valley 164, GT/RA 170, Sioux Central 187, Manson-Northwest Webster 233

GOWRIE – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Tyson Kruse shot 39 for runner-up medalist honors as he led the Titans to a second-place finish behind host Southeast Valley on Thursday, 164 to 170.

Southeast Valley’s Keegan took top medalist honors with a 32. For the rest of the Titans’ score, Josh Petrick and Treyton Cacek each shot a 43 while Brady Rosacker shot a 45. Non-counting scores were a 47 from Noah Flaherty and a 48 from Brady Olson.

Emmetsburg 195, GT/RA 245

EMMETSBURG – The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire girls couldn’t keep up with Emmetsburg at the Palo Alto County Meet on Friday.

The E’Hawks’ Allison Freman took medalist honors with a 40 and teammate Sarah Pugh was runner-up medalist with a 50.

Hailey Derrickson led GT/RA with a 56 while Annika Akridge shot a 62, Mackenzie DePyper shot a 63 and Lauren Josephson shot a 64.

Non-counting scores were a 70 by Madison Petersen and a 74 by Kristen Terrson.

“It was poor weather to golf in and the girls struggled a bit today,” said GT/RA coach Brent Dyhrkopp.

The Titans are at Sioux Rapids on Tuesday.
