Throwers also showing improving

Although the Estherville Lincoln Central girls didn’t score many points at Thursday’s 2017 Lakes Conference Track and Field Meet, they did set several personal records on the night as they prepare for the upcoming state qualifying meet.
“We had several personal bests tonight,” said ELC coach Tina Burton. “Faith Lutat threw a personal best in the shot put. The sprint medley team team, 4×200, senior Mel Gruwell and 4×400 all had personal bests as well. The Lakes Conference has always been an outstanding conference with lots of talent and our ladies didn’t back off. I love the competitiveness they have been giving their races.”
Spencer walked away with the team title with 183 points with Western Christian finishing a distant second with 108. ELC finished with 19 points to place seventh.
ELC’s top finish on the night came from Domanique Richardson as she placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 13.17 seconds.
ELC travels to Emmetsburg on Monday for the final meet of the regular season. The state qualifying meet is Thursday at Garner.
