Another big night for Conlon and Titans
GRAETTINGER – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire protected its home field Friday with a 34-6 win over Northwood-Kensett on Friday.
The Titans built a 34-0 lead before giving up a touchdown late in the third quarter to the Vikings.
GT/RA quarterback Jacob Conlon had a big night for the second straight week.
Against Northwood-Kensett, he finished 12-of-17 passing with three touchdowns while running for two touchdowns.
His first touchdown was a 13-yard pass to Tommy Geelan on the Titans’ opening drive, which came with 9:11 left in the first quarter, to lead 6-0.
Conlon then had a 1-yard touchdown run with 23 seconds left in the period and then ran in the two-point conversion to push the lead to 14-0.
In the second quarter, Conlon found open field again, this time from 34 yards out with 4:30 left on the clock. After the two-point conversion, GT/RA would lead 22-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Jacob Conlon connected for two touchdowns with brother Chris Conlon. The first came on a 4-yard pass with 9:51 on the clock and the second was from 10-yards out with 6:05 left in the period.
That completed the scoring for the Titans. Northwood-Kensett scored on a 9-yard pass play with 45 seconds left in the third quarter.
Conlon finished with 104 yards through the air and 185 rushing yards on 14 carries. Kolton Roth added 45 yards on 15 carries while Treyton Cacek had 24 yards on two carries, Brock Grimm had 18 yards on four carries and Chris Conlon carried the ball once for two yards.
Receiving, Chris Conlon had 21 yards on four receptions, Geelan caught three passes for 44 yards, Jace Naig had two catches for 18 yards and Roth had 21 yards on three catches.
Roth dominated the Titan defense with 11 tackles including three solo sacks and another tackle for a loss. He also recovered a fumble, one of three turnovers caused by the Titans. Nate Larson landed on another fumble and Jacob Conlon had an interception.
GT/RA (2-0) opens district play this Friday against Newell-Fonda in Newell
