Iowa Lakes Community College was recently honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for academic achievements during the 2019-20 school year.

Each year the NJCAA recognizes both teams and individuals for academic success. Four Iowa Lakes teams received honorable mention for earning a team cumulative grade point average above 3.0.

Women’s Swimming & Diving- 3.36

Softball- 3.16

Men’s Soccer- 3.02

Men’s Swimming & Diving- 3.02

“Very proud of our teams and individual student athletes with all of their academic accomplishments. It was a very challenging semester with classes moving to online due to Covid-19. Our student athletes worked hard, handled adversity, and still performed at a high level in the classroom. This skill set will allow these student athletes to be successful,” commented Athletic Director Troy Larson.

The NJCAA recognized 35 Iowa Lakes student athletes for their individual academic achievement.

The NJCAA has three award classifications: NJCAA All-Academic First Team (4.00 GPA), NJCAA All-Academic Second Team (3.80-3.99 GPA), and NJCAA All-Academic Third Team (3.60-3.79 GPA).
