Hough, Titans roll past River Valley
CORRECTIONVILLE – Sophomore quarterback Max Hough ran for two touchdowns and returned a kickoff 70 yards for another score, as Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire picked up its first win of the season, 36-18, over host River Valley on Friday.
The Titans’s also forced six Wolverine turnovers with Brock Grimm recovering a fumble for a score.
Hough finished with 222 yards on 23 carries with the longest touchdown coming from 61 yards out.
River Valley actually scored first on a 50-yard pass play, but the Titans’ Cormick Currans tied the game at 6-6 with a 2-yard run with 2:09 left in the opening quarter.
Grimm put GTRA on top when he pounced on a fumble in the end zone and the last score of the half came on Hough’s 61-yard run.
The two teams each scored twice in the third quarter, as GT/RA maintained its 12-point lead 30-18.
GTRA capped the game with one more score in the final frame.
Currans finished with 99 yards on 21 carries while Drew Schnell had 21 yards and a 6-yard touchdown run on three carries. Nolan Darr had six carries for 16 yards.
Hough finished 4-of-9 passing for 56 yards. Currans caught one pass for 33 yards, Schnell caught a pass for 20 yards and Darr caught two passes for 3 yards.
Durrans led the Titan defense with eight tackles while Hough had 7.5. Kaden McCoy had six tackles with two going for a loss including a sack. Lucas Rouse had 5.5 tackles with three going for a loss including two sacks. Grimm also had 5.5 tackles and Blake Rosacker had a sack.
Currans snagged two interceptions while Hough and Schnell each had one. Besides Grimm’s fumble recovery for a touchdown, Rouse also recovered a fumble.
GT/RA (1-1 overall) hosts Harris-Lake Park (1-2) this Friday for the Titans homecoming in Ruthven. H-LP won its first game of the 2020 season on Friday, 21-0, over Kingsley-Pierson.
