Schiltz takes second at E’burg

EMMETSBURG — Nick Schiltz posted a career-high second-place finish in helping North Union place fourth at the Emmetsburg Invitational on Monday.

Schiltz finished the race in 19 minutes, 35 seconds with Garner-Hayfield-Ventura’s Jake Hejlik winning the race in 19:02.

Gage Madden placed 10th in 20:37 to also medal on the day. Rounding out the Warriors’ team score, Gavyn Morphew placed 23rd in 22:08, Dalton Tobin placed 25th in 22:27, and Nick Arndorfer placed 30th in 22:43. Also running, Chase Cummins placed 33rd in 23:22 and Trevor Kruse placed 42nd in 24:18.

The Warriors had three girls competing in the varsity race. Hannah Morphew placed 20th in 25:42, Hanna Sandvig placed 24th in 26:18, and Cassie Beadle placed 29th in 26:55.

North Union is back in action Monday at Humboldt.

GTRA boys placed eighth

EMMETSBURG — The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Boys Cross Country Team ran to an eighth place finish at the Emmetsburg Invitational on Monday.

Aiden Egertson led the Titans with a 26th place finish in 22 minutes, 28 seconds. Carson Torreson placed 35th in 23:32, Tyson Olson placed 47th in 24:54, Zach Borchers placed 48th in 24:55, David Griffith placed 49th in 25 minutes, Quentin Scott placed 50th in 25:01.

In the girls’ race, Claudia Hall placed 33rd in 28:14.

The Titans travel to Sioux Rapids today for a meet hosted by Sioux Central.
