Algona/ELC times dropping

PERRY — The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central High School Girls Swim Team dropped a double dual at Perry on Tuesday, losing 55-37 to Perry and 48-44 to Grinnell.

“The girls continue to improve on their times,” said Algona/ELC coach Jim Fisher. “There were 10 better times of the 27 entries in the meet. Some of the drops included Faith Huber dropping 19 seconds in the 500 free, Averie Cunningham 6 seconds in the 100 backstroke and the 400 free relay team of the Ross sisters (Emma and Quimby), (Cathryn) Houge and (Kaitlin) Pollock dropped 10 seconds.”

Best finishes were second to Perry and Grinnell included the 200 medley relay team of Emily Paulson, Cathryn Houge, Kaitlyn Pollock and Emma Ross in 2:25.29, Trysta Penning in the 200 free in 3:18.14, Quimby Ross in the 50 free in 30.11, the 200 freestyle relay team of Paulson, Caitlin Shannon, Emma Ross and Pollock in 2:13.69, Houge in the 100 breaststroke in 1:30.72 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Emma and Quimby Ross, Houge and Pollock in 4:46.52.

First place against Grinnell was Houge in the 200 individual medley in 2:55.64 and Emma Ross in the 100 butterfly in 1:16.07.

First place against Perry was Paulson in the 100 backstroke in 1:25.53.

First overall was Kaitlyn Pollock in the 500 free in 6:43.18.

Algona/ELC hosts Mason City in Algona today and then travels to Spencer for a double dual on Monday with the host Tigers and Sioux City West.
