Titans’ season ends at regional
HOLSTEIN — The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire boys ran to a 13th-place finish at Thursday’s Class 1A State Qualifying Meet in Holstein.
“We had a good meet as a team,” said GT/RA coach Mike Nichols. “We finished 13th in the 18 team meet. I’m very proud of this team. We had three guys who worked through some painful injuries to finish the season.”
Aidan Egertson led the Titans, placing 26th in 19 minutes, 54 seconds on the 3.1-mile course.
Quentin Scott placed 41st in 20:53, Zach Borchers placed 81st in 23:20, David Griffith placed 82nd in 24:07, Carson Torreson placed 93rd in 26:07, and Tyson Olson placed 96th in 27:59.
“Aiden had his best meet to date,” said Nichols. “He moved into the top quarter of the standings and was just over a minute away from qualifying for state. That’s pretty good for a sophomore. Quentin Scott also had a strong race to finish his sophomore season finishing in the top half. Those two have become good leaders and will help take our program forward.”
