Christensen, Schiltz receive 2020 All-State honors

Two Estherville Lincoln Central players earned state recognition from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association last week.

Senior receiver Matt Christensen received first team all-state honors in Class 2A while junior Ryan Schiltz was named to third team all-state as an offensive utility player.

Christensen earned Defensive Most Valuable Player honors in Class 2A District honors as well as all-district honors as a receiver.

Christensen had the fifth-most receptions yards in Class 2A with 687 on 40 receptions–an average of 17.2 yards per catch. He also scored 10 touchdowns, which also was fifth-most in Class 2A.

Senior Collin Swantz of Mount Vernon led Class 2A in reception yards with 770 on 53 receptions with and led the class with 14 touchdown receptions.

ELC’s Schiltz scored the second-most touchdowns in Class 2A, behind only Central Lyon/George-Little Rock sophomore quarterback Zach Lutmer. Schiltz scored 28 touchdowns–23 passing and five rushing, while Lutmer scored 33 touchdowns–23 on the ground and 10 through the air.

Schiltz’s 23 passing touchdowns topped Class 2A in 2020.
