Shooting woes doom ELC
SPIRIT LAKE — The Estherville Lincoln Central boys had a tough shooting night against rival Spirit Lake in the Indians 56-32 win over the Midgets on Friday.
ELC shot 19 percent (9-of-47) for the game, including 0-of-18 from 3-point range.
ELC’s trips to the free throw line were more productive, as the Midgets were 14-of-18 from there.
Spirit Lake’s taller players and defense definitely played a factor and ELC was out-rebounded 42-20.
ELC also just had seven turnovers.
Spirit Lake led the entire night, with an 11-3 lead after one quarter, 29-15 at halftime, and 38-21 after a low-scoring third quarter.
Matt Christensen led ELC with 12 points and six rebounds while Will Larson had 10 points, Owen Larson had three, Ryan Schiltz, Kevin Egeland, and Jack Jensen each had two points and Octavious Piercy-Maze had one.
ELC (3-3 overall, 1-2 in the Lakes Conference) hosts Emmetsburg on Tuesday to complete its 2020 portion of this season’s schedule.
