ELC Girls outshoot JCC
JACKSON, Minn. — Jaydan Nitchals continued her hot shooting from earlier in the week against Jackson Country Central on Friday.
After hitting seven 3-pointers against Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Tuesday, the Estherville Lincoln sophomore made five 3-pointers against the Huskies on Friday and finished with 20 points, while leading to Midgets to a 76-48 win.
“She just took off from where she left off on Tuesday,” said ELC coach Don Martindale of Nitchals. “We really played well that entire first half. This group is so unselfish and share the ball. These kids pay for each other and they’re a great group to be around.”
Nitchals hit her first three shots from beyond the arc, as ELC jumped out to an 11-3 lead. After the Huskies closed the gap to 11-8, Nitchals hit her fourth 3-pointer that jumpstarted an offensive flurry that helped the Midgets to a 54-25 half-time lead.
The Midgets eventually grabbed a 35-point lead in the second half before some late baskets by the Huskies made the final tally.
Kaitlyn Tendal finished with 18 points while Jordyn Stokes chipped in 16. Amara Heinrichs had eight points, Adrienne Rosfjord had seven, Maggie White had three and Jadynn Moore and Brei Christoffer each had two points.
ELC, which jumped back into the 3A rankings at 14 last week, will travel to Newell on Thursday to play the Class 1A, No. 2 Newell-Fonda Mustangs. ELC is on the road at Spencer on Friday.
In junior varsity play, ELC defeated Jackson County Central 32-17.
