Titans pull away in second half

GRAETTINGER — North Union gave a good effort in the first half, but host Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire picked up the pace in the second half, as the Titans won 63-51 on Tuesday.

GT/RA jumped out to a 20-15 lead in the first quarter, but the Warriors held the hosts to just eight points in the second quarter and took a 31-28 lead at the break.

The Titans came ready in the second half, outscoring the Warriors 20-10 in the third quarter to take the lead for good.

Drew Schnell led GT/RA with 24 points while Max Hough chipped in 18, Kory Hough had 10, Dalton Young had five, Eric Heinrichs had four, and Blake Rosacker had two.

Aidan Fries led North Union with 16 points, six rebounds and four steals. Nick Schiltz had 10 points, Gage Madden had nine, and Logan Odegaard had eight points and seven rebounds. Also, Teagon Fothergill had six points and Luke Schmidt had two.

GT/RA (4-7 overall) hosts Pocahontas Area on Friday in Graettinger.

North Union (1-9 overall) hosts North Iowa on Friday in Armstrong.

On Monday, GT/RA lost 63-44 to Sioux Central. The Rebels led 16-6 after one quarter, 32-19 at halftime, and 51-29 after three quarters. Stats for the Titans were unavailable. Jacb Hargens led Sioux Central with 22 points.
