Lakers lose in five sets
CRESTON — It was not
listed as the ICCAC game of
the week but don’t tell the
Lakers and the Spartans that.
The two volleyball teams
got together in Creston
Thursday night and treated
the limited spectators
and loyal streamers to one
heck of a match. It took a
little over two hours but
Southwestern came a way
with the win 3-2, by scores
of 29-31, 25-23, 28-30,
25-22, and 15-9. The two
teams have split the season
match ups with Iowa Lakes
winning in five at home and
Southwestern returning the
favor in Creston.
“Definitely a tough loss to
swallow but I can’t praise
our girls enough for how
hard they played tonight,”
said Iowa Lakes Coach Mike
Turnbull.. “There were huge,
gutsy performances on both
sides of the net. I really hope
we can carry this kind of effort
and enthusiasm forward
going through our last six
matches leading into Region
Xl play-offs.”
