Midgets split duals to end busy week

Estherville Lincoln Central Boys Tennis Team bounced back from its Lakes Conference loss to Spencer on Thursday with a 7-2 win over Clear Lake on Friday.

ELC took 5-of-6 singles matches and 2-of-3 doubles matches on the day.

Grant Love won 6-1, 6-1, Arron Nissen won 6-2, 7-6, Brenden Finley won 6-1, 6-1, Jack Jensen won 6-1, 7-6, Joe Amdahl won 6-2, 6-4, and Scott Whitacre lost 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles, Love and Finley won a a tiebreak 10-5, in a 6-7, 6-3 match. Nissen and Jensen won 6-1, 6-0. Amdahl and Whitacre lost in a tiebreak 11-9, after splitting sets 2-6, and 6-4.

On Thursday, ELC didn’t have much success against Spencer, as the Tigers defeated the Midgets 8-1.

Grant Love picked up ELC’s only win as he won 10-7 at the No. 1 singles spot. In other singles play, Arron Nissen lost 10-7, Brenden Finley lost 10-2, Jack Jensen lost 10-6, Joe Amdahl lost 10-2, and Scott Whitacre lost 10-0. In doubles, Love and Finley lost 10-2, Nissen and Jensen lost 10-5, and Amdahl and Whitacre lost 10-1.

Spencer swept ELC’s junior varsity 9-0. In singles, Cullen Bixby lost 8-1, Kaleb Young 8-0, Blake Bixby lost 8-4, James Williams lost 8-2, Landon Moran lost 8-1, and Braxton Shryock lost 8-1. In doubles, Young and Cullen Bixby lost 8-4, Moran and Williams lost 8-3, and Blake Bixby and Cornwall lost 8-2.

In exhibition play, Ehren Masters lost 6-3, and Lundgren and Diaz lost 6-2.
