ELC storms past Tornadoes

The Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Tennis Team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Storm Lake on Monday.

The Midgets won all six singles matches on the night. Starting at the No. 1 singles, Abby Sander won 10-0 over Christina Mai, Kya Thiel won 10-1 over Kazao Vang, Grace Johnson won 10-0 over Tammy Xayavath, Brenna Evans won 10-0 over Shannon Henry, Emma Ross won 10-1 over Eh Ler Mod Taw, and Hayley Olson toughed out a 10-6 win over Morgan Sievert.

In doubles, Sander and Thiel won 10-2 over Mai and Henry at the top slot while Olson and Johnson won 10-3 over Taw and Sievert. At the No. 2 doubles, Claire Brandt and Evans came up short, losing 10-6 to Vang and Xayavath.

The ELC junior varsity also won bye a score of 8-1. In singles play, Emma Harvego won 7-5, Grace Ruschy won 6-3, Lili Snyder won 6-2, Emily Regelstad won 7-6, Carly Grange won 6-1, and Shelby Brosh lost 6-3.

In doubles, Harvego and Kaitlyn Pollock won 6-1, Snyder and Regelstad won 6-4, and Hannah Nitchals and Brosh won 6-3.

ELC is at Cherokee today, hosts Spirit Lake on Friday, and then heads to Spirit Lake on Saturday for the Lakes Conference Tournament.
