Midgets finish second at Wildcat Relays

By David Swartz - Managing Editor | Apr 29, 2021

HUMBOLDT — The Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Track Team took advantage of the warmer temperatures and ran to a second-place finish at the Wildcat Relays hosted by Humboldt on Monday.

“It was a fun night for the girls,” said ELC coach JR Nitchals. “We tried some things differently. We had the ‘next man up’ mentality. We gave the opportunity for those that have been in relays the majority of the season to try some individual events. We had a huge points in long jump from (Jasey) Anderson and (Brei) Christoffer placing first and second, and (Kendyl) Ruschy had a season best in discus and placed third. We are having fun right now trying different personal in our relays and Coach Bryson McCabe and I have been putting our heads together to get the personal figured out.”

Besides the 1-2 finish in the long jump, the Midgets had two place winners in 11 other events. Anderson also won the 200-meter dash and anchored the winning 4×400-meter relay of Tatum Dunlavy, Jordyn Stokes, and Jordyn Moore.

“Adrienne Rosfjord is slowing getting back into rhythm and its been beneficial having her run in two to three races a night now,” said Nitchals. “Our JV has won a few meets in a row now. We have some girls that love to compete and we continue to see improvements.”

The ELC girls have two meets scheduled to end the week–today at Storm Lake and Friday at Spirit Lake.
