Midgets too much for Titans
RUTHVEN — Estherville Lincoln Central evened its record at 2-2 with a 9-1 victory over Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Wednesday.
The Midgets scored earl, as Jasey Anderson led off with a single, and stole second base. With oneout, Tatum Dunlavy was hit by a pitch. A double steal put runners in scoring position and a passed ball and a wild pitch allowed both runs to score.
ELC added to its 2-0 lead in the second inning, Kennedy Paul led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice by Gabby Paul, Caro Schiltz drew a walk and a single by Amara Heinrichs loaded the bases. Two runs scored as Anderson singled up the middle. Jadynn Moore then hit a sacrifice fly to left field and then Anderson scored the fourth run of the inning, as the throw to the infield was off the mark.
Leading 6-0, ELC added three runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a two-run double by Heinrichs.
Gabby Paul started on the mound, striking out five batters while giving up no runs on three hits with one walk in four innings of work. Rylee Yager closed out the final three innings, striking out seven while giving up an unearned run on a pair of hits in the seventh.
GT/RA’s Macy Alderson led off with an infield single and Sierra Kluever reached on an error, allowing the run to score.
For GT/RA, Kenzie Hoffman was 3-4 and Alderson and Natalie Swedin each were 1-3.
Sophie Peterson pitched 2 2/3 innings in the loss, giving up two hits and three walks with three hit batters and one strikeout. Hailey Ebel closed out the game giving up five hits, one walk and a hit batter.
For ELC at the plate, Heirnichs was 2-4 with two RBIs to lead the Midgets.
