Midgets extend winning streak to eight games
Busch, Vaske combine to hold Cherokee scoreless
Estherville Lincoln Central extended its winning streak to eight games with Friday’s 8-0 victory over Cherokee.
Seth Busch pitched the first 5 2/3 innings, striking out seven batters while giving up just two hits and two walks. Landon Vaske closed out the game, recording one strikeout and giving up one hit, as the two juniors combined for the shutout.
“Seth has been asking for the ball more and Landon came in relief and did a nice job,” said ELC coach Lee Evans.
The win was the first varsity win for Busch, who had a pair of saves last season.
Offensively, ELC went to work in the bottom of the first inning. Ryan Schiltz led off with a single, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a hit by Blake Ingvall. Busch followed with a single and Will Larson drew a walk to load the bases.
