Funeral services for Nola Marilyn Nelson, 75, were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Foundation Church in Spencer with Nicholas Hanges officiating. Interment was held at Little Sioux Lutheran Cemetery, rural Milford.
Nola Marilyn Nelson, the daughter of Garnett J. Petersen, was born on February 21, 1948, in Spencer, Iowa. She was raised in the Royal area where she attended school and graduated from Clay Central High School.
On May 6, 1966, she married David Nelson in Everly. They continued to live in the Royal area where she raised her family. She also worked at SuperValu in Spencer. She worked at the Spencer Hospital as the Director of Purchasing for about 5 years before going to Iowa Lakes Community College and obtaining a degree in Nursing. Nola worked as a Home Health and Hospice Nurse for over 30 years for various places. Nola retired in 2010. She was a member of Foundation Church. She enjoyed horses and sewing, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her children would always say that she is a very caring mother and grandmother.
Nola passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer on February 24, 2023, at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Jason.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristi Kautzman of Spencer, IA; her son, Clint Nelson and his wife, Mindy of Terril, IA; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
