Funeral services for Carol J. Meyer, 86, of Ringsted, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted with Pastor Suzanne Wobig officiating. Interment will be at Ringsted Memorial Cemetery, Ringsted. Carol passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m., Friday at the church.

Carol Jane Meyer, daughter of Henry and Alice (Rippentrop) Hofbauer, was born on October 12, 1936, in Forest City, Iowa. 

She grew up and attended school in Buffalo Center, Iowa, graduating in 1955.

She married Gary Meyer on February 26, 1956, in Buffalo Center, unto this union were born three children: Allen, Loren and Lorraine.

Carol worked for Dr. Brock, a dentist in Thompson, Iowa, also at Jack Sprat Grocery and the Ringsted Drug Store.

In her free time, she liked to golf, cook, mow at the farm, play in card clubs, travel with friends, was a member of the Red Hat Club and enjoyed going to the casino.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other family and friends, both in Iowa and Arizona.

She and Gary wintered in Arizona for 28 years and met many wonderful friends there before health prevented them from returning.

Carol was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ringsted Presbyterian Church.

Carol is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gary; her sons, Allen (Lori) Meyer, Ringsted, and Loren (Jewel) Meyer, Fenton; daughter, Lorraine (Duane) Cummins, Runnels, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy (Courtney) Meyer, Ashley (Will) Olson, Heather (AJ) Mills, Nicholas (Lacie Brandts) Meyer, Danielle (Matthew) Krier, Holly (Zak) Wright, Tiffany (Luke) Murphy, and Mindy (Lee) Simpson; and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Alice and her brothers, Harold and Alvin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church.
