Carrie Sue (Pieper) Johnson was born June 24, 1962, to Charles and Audrey (Rowe) Pieper. She departed this life on September 11, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with aggressive cancer complications at the age of 64.
A funeral service will be held for Carrie on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11 AM at United Methodist Church in Jackson, Minnesota. A visitation for Carrie will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 5PM to 7PM at Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville, Iowa. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Estherville.
Carrie was born in Spirit Lake, Ia. She grew up in Spirit Lake, Oregon and Jackson, Minnesota. Carrie graduated from Jackson High School in 1980 and then attended Jackson Vo-Tech. She worked for Country Manor Inn Café in Jackson, Style Craft in Milford, and GKN/moveero in Estherville as a CNC technician. Carrie retired after nearly 26 years of service. She was known as a hard worker who paid close attention to detail.
On October 3, 2009, she was united in marriage to the love of her life Larry Johnson at the Jackson Methodist Church in Jackson. They made their home in Estherville, Ia. Carrie enjoyed online games, cooking, going out to eat with family, traveling with her husband, and being with family, especially her grandchildren, for whom she attended most every milestone of their lives that she could. She also treasured her week with family at Crescent Beach each summer and the times spent boating, laughing and relaxing together. Carrie was a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins and Arizona Cardinals. Carrie was a strong conservative person with many friends. She was a member of the Jackson Methodist church.
Carrie is survived by her loving husband of 17 years Larry, daughters Kadee Newkirk (Estherville IA.), Heather Wilde (Sioux Falls, SD), son Randy (Sara) Nissen (Gibbon, MN.), grandchildren Braylen Milstead, Gabriel, Deklan and Penelope Frodermann, William, Samuel, and Rosie Nissen, brother Carl (Karen) Pieper, sister Audra (Rod) Sowles, sister-in-law Barb Pieper, brother Bob Metli, sisters in-law Dawn (Bruce) Eveleth, Ellen Youds, brother in-law Steve (Barb) Johnson, her “beautiful” cat Dusty, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents Charlie and Audrey, brothers Clancy and Henry Pieper, sister Shirley and brother-in-law Mark Crawmer, son Verne Nissen, father and mother-in-law Bernard and Virginia Johnson, her maternal and paternal Grandparents, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
