Centenarian remembered with horse-drawn processional

Nordein Peterson, 102, was laid to rest at Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery Sunday, Jan. 16. Tom and Lisa Hansen’s horse-drawn wagon led the processional. Nordein was born March 28, 1919 and died Jan. 2, 2022. The Many Voices Choir, of which Peterson was a longtime member, sang “He Shall Feed His Flock,” and “Beautiful Savior.” Recorded music from Nordein’s children, including a solo of “It is Well With My Soul,” by son Paul Peterson, and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” by Paul and daughters Marcia Klingbeil and Rhonda Hand, were presented at the service. A Men’s Quintet sang “Beulah Land,” and the Affinity Quartet sang “Lord’s Prayer.” Glenn Henriksen was the accompanist. VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 presented military honors. Peterson was a World War II veteran serving stateside taking care of wounded American soldiers and German prisoners. The Estherville News interviewed Peterson at his rural Wallingford Farm last fall. Stories about Nordein’s life can be found in the October edition of Our Hometown and the Oct. 26 edition of the Estherville News.
