Charlotte Ewing, the daughter of Clarion and Martha (Schipull) Long was born February 14, 1940 in Algona, Iowa. She died on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 80. Private family services will be held at this time, with burial at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a public memorial service will be held at a later date.
She received her education and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1958. After graduation, she went to Beauty School and worked at several beauty shops.
On January 30, 1965, she was united in marriage to Gary Ewing. The couple made their home in Swea City, where they raised their family. In her leisure time she enjoyed volunteering at church, school and the college. Charlotte enjoyed helping at blood drives, delivering Meals on Wheels, and at the Emmet County Fair. Most important was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. She was a member of the Regional Wellness Center where she enjoyed volunteering her time as well. Taking tickets at events at Iowa Lakes Community College, also kept her busy.
Left to cherish Charlotte's memory are her two children, Cindy Hugunin and her husband, Nick of Maple Grove, Minnesota; Keith Ewing and his wife, Kim of Okoboji, Iowa; five grandchildren, Abbie and Tyler Hugunin, Kyle Ewing and his wife Ceara, Kristen Christenson and her husband Eric, Kraig Ewing and his wife Kelley; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol McDonald and Betty Hollund and sister-in-law, Marsha Long and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Charlotte in death were a son, Ken; parents; husband, Gary; two brothers, Larry and Calvin; sister, Donna Lane; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret and Mary Long.
Memorials may be given in Charlotte's name to The Polycystic Kidney Disease pkdcure.org, or The Estherville United Methodist Church.
