Dessie Darlene Schroeder was born to Opal and Gerald Bishop, on October 28th, 1937. Darlene was the youngest of four children. Darlene adored her older siblings, Harold (Bud) Kent, Eileen Reiling and Jim Bishop.

On February 11th, 1961, she married Harold Leroy Schroeder. They made their home in Estherville while raising their 3 children, Kim, Daniel and Terry. Darlene worked at a variety of jobs, including working in the kitchen at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home, working in factories, and doing housekeeping. Her favorite job of all was babysitting her grandchildren and later, her great-grandchildren.

She was always available and more than willing to help family and friends with any projects involving, organizing, cleaning, constructing, painting, etc. She loved to craft and especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked sewing and most family members brought items for her to mend on a regular basis. She also loved quilting, a skill she got from her mother. Her love of quilting showed in the many quilts she made for her family.

Darlene was a strong-willed woman with strong opinions. She made sure that her opinions were known too. She ran her house, raised her children, worked her jobs, and kept everything and everyone in line. She did the best she could with what she knew and had. She was always there to listen. She loved her family. She wanted nothing more than for them to be happy and did not try to change them. She was a brutally honest and strong woman who passed away on Monday, May 11th, 2020, in her home just like she wanted.

She is survived by her husband, Harold of Estherville; her children, Kim (Layne) Anderson of Estherville, Daniel (Kris) Schroeder of Milford, and Terry (Jody) Schroeder of Estherville; her grandchildren, Dessa (David) Rose of Estherville, Byron Beaver-Magee of Oklahoma City, Hana Schroeder of Estherville, Kyle Anderson of Minneapolis, Matt Anderson of Chicago, and Emmy (Darin) Clabaugh of Mitchell, SD; her great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Felicity, and Gabriel Rose, Bailey and Lucas Beaver, Chloe and Wyatt Perkins, and Brigham Clabaugh; and her brother, Jim (Karel) Bishop of Estherville.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father, her oldest brother, Harold and sister, Eileen.

She will forever leave a lasting impression on all who loved her and will be dearly missed.
