Funeral services for Dorothy Egel, 94, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020, at United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Kevin Moore officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She departed this life on Monday, July 20, 2020 at her home in Estherville, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2020, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Dorothy Egel, the daughter of John and Eliza (Swain) Weller was born August 29, 1925 in borough of Watford in Hertfordshire, England and
On July 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to Paul Egel while he was stationed in England during World War II. The couple farmed near Algona until 1960 when they moved to Estherville. For hobbies, Dorothy enjoyed gardening, flowers, bingo, puzzles, and games and shooting rabbits with the sling shot to keep them out of the garden.
Left to cherish Dorothy's memory are her children, Kenneth Egel and his wife, Conny of Winnebago, Minnesota; Donald Egel and his wife, Beth of Algona; Jean Comegys of Des Moines; John Egel and his wife, Karen of Overland Park, Kansas; Pat Murray and Daryl Johnson of Estherville; Randy Egel and Bonnie Hoppe of Estherville; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and sister, Frances Newson of England.
She has been preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Pam Egel; son-in-law, Don Comegys; 4 sisters, Winifred, Katherine, Marie, and Rosa and 3 brothers, Donald, Montague, and Roy.
