An eight-run first inning helped Estherville Lincoln Central cruise to a 13-1, five-inning victory over West Bend-Mallard on Friday.The win helps ELC complete a 3-0 first week after Thursday’s game against Sioux Central was canceled due to rain.
In Friday’s win, Carter Snyder got the start on the mound and pitched three perfect inning, facing nine batters and striking out six. Landon Vaske wrapped up the final two innings, striking out four batters while giving up one unearned run on one hit and two walks.
At the plate, ELC took advantage of 10 walks and four hit batters to go along with six hits. Darryl Jensen was 2-2 with an RBI while Carson Grange had a double and two RBIs and Seth Busch had a hit and two RBIs. Also, Will Larson and Griffin Hoyer each were 1-2 with an RBI and Snyder and Vaske each had an RBI.
ELC finishes up its first week 3-0 and faced Newman Catholic (4-0) Monday evening.
The Midgets are on the road against MOC-Floyd Valley (2-0) on Tuesday, and at Cherokee (0-2) on Wednesday.
