A Celebration of Life Service for Forrest G. Hofbauer, 86, of Estherville, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Joel Sadler officiating. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. Forrest died on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, at Aspire Care Center in Estherville.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church only on Saturday.
Forrest Gene Hofbauer, the son of George and Dorothy (Radmaker) Hofbauer was born Aug. 13, 1936, in Buffalo Center, Iowa.
He received his education and graduated from Buffalo Center High School.
On Aug. 2, 65 years ago, he was united in marriage to Karen Mitchell in Buffalo Center. Forrest was employed at Dairy Herd Improvement Association, owned Skelgas and worked at North Central Public Service. In 1985, Forrest started and operated his own business, Hofbauer Sales and Service before retiring in 2014. He enjoyed golfing, roller skating, collecting Hofbauer Crystal, puzzles, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. Forrest also enjoyed tagging along with the Iowa Great Lakes Road Riders.
He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville.
Left to cherish Forrest’s memory are his wife, Karen of Estherville; children, Steven (Peggy) Hofbauer of Spencer and Lora (Tracy) Nielsen of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Ruth) Hofbauer of Sebring, Florida; Jim Hofbauer of Buffalo Center and sister, Judy (Alan) Boeckholt of Buffalo Center.
He has been preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott Hofbauer Sr., siblings, Shirley Furst, Keith Hofbauer, Dale Hofbauer, and sister-in-law, Joyce Hofbauer.
Memorial contributions may be given to Gentiva Hospice in memory of Forrest.
