A memorial service for Helen M. Nitchals, 84, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. Helen died on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1 at the funeral chapel in Estherville.
Helen M. Nitchals the daughter of Howard and Myrtle (Enderson) Payne was born November 30, 1937 in Armstrong, Iowa. She died on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville at the age of 84 years.
She received her education and graduated from Estherville High School.
On April 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to Charles Lee Nitchals in Estherville. The couple farmed in Bancroft area and in 1962 they moved to Estherville. Helen was employed with PG Gray, Avera Holy Family Hospital, Estherville schools, Good Samaritan Society and Polaris. After her retirement she worked for the school lunch program. For hobbies, she enjoyed gardening and golfing.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and RSVP.
Left to cherish Helen’s memory are her children, Ginger (Randy) Krueger and Chuck “Barney” Nitchals and special friend, Rhonda; grandchildren, Holly (Clayton) Eggers, Jeff (Taylor) Krueger, Myles (Jana) Krueger, Jenna (Tony) Krueger; sister, Annabel (Bob) Soat and sister-in-law, Nancy (Spurgeon) Payne.
She has been preceded in death by her husband, Charles; mother, Myrtle; sister, Sally (Ed) Nitchals; and brothers, George, Jim, and Jerry (Nancy Fish) Payne and special dogs, Scooter and Jesse.
