In Loving Memory of Miriam Ann Valen

Miriam (Mim), the daughter of Henry and Bertha Valen of Estherville, Iowa, was born November 10, 1941. She went to be with her Lord on March 11, 2021, at her home in Bloomington, Minnesota.

After graduating from Estherville High School, Mim graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. Her desire to receive Bible training landed her at Seattle Lutheran Bible Institute where she also graduated.

Mim worked at Northwest Airlines Credit Union for 50 years. That was the longest anyone had been employed with their organization so she was greatly honored at her retirement party in 2012.

One of the blessings of working for the airlines was the opportunities she had to travel to different states and nations. One of the biggest highlights for Mim was traveling with her mother to various places in Norway to visit many relatives and enjoy lots of sightseeing adventures!

Throughout her life Mim loved to sew, bake new recipes, she was a great cook and she loved to go to music concerts and special events at her church. Upon retiring, she was actively involved in two weekly Bible study groups and prayer calls for America.

Mim was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul Valen. She is survived by her sisters: Ruth Valen of Anthem, Arizona; Lois (Denny) Anderson of Mansfield, Texas; Linda Valen of Kansas City, Missouri; Mark (Barb) Valen of Estherville, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Patty Valen of College Station, Texas.

A Celebration of Life to honor Mim will be held later this summer in Estherville, Iowa.
