Ione Lennette (Rossow) Brekke, the daughter of Alma & Leonard Rossow, was born on February 20, 1927, in Hollandale, Minnesota. She passed away at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 93. Private family services will be held. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.henryolsonfuneral.com.
Ione was baptized on March 13, 1927, in Hollandale, Minnesota, and was confirmed on March 21, 1940 at St. Peter Lutheran, Delafield in Heron Lake, Minnesota. She received her education and graduated from Lakefield, Minnesota.
On November 25, 1950, Ione was united in marriage to Howard Conrad Brekke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Minnesota. The couple farmed for many years north of Superior. Ione was an excellent cook. Besides cooking and baking, she enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, and canning the fruits and vegetables from her garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville, Iowa. She belonged to the Superior Farm Women’s Study Club for several years.
Left to cherish Ione’s memory are son, Thomas Mark Brekke, and his wife Debbie of Spirit Lake; son, Jon Howard Brekke and his wife Deb of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Brent (Sarah) Brekke of Bondurant, Iowa; Amanda (Josh) Chilson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Jena Simmons of Spirit Lake; great-grandson, Landon Brekke of Bondurant, Iowa; sister-in-law, Ruth Sheehan of Flippin, Arkansas.
Preceding Ione in death are her husband, Howard; parents; and sister, Edna (Rossow) Pohlman.
