A memorial service for Joann M. Bendixen, 78, of Estherville, was held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Deacon John Rudd, officiant. Interment was at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Estherville. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Joann Marian Bendixen was born August 29, 1948, in Estherville, Iowa, and died the morning of September 11, 2023, in Estherville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leonard Bendixen and Bernice (Neppl) Bendixen and lived most of her life in the Estherville area.
Joann graduated from Estherville Senior High School with the class of 1966. Later she was a client of ECHO in Estherville, where she took great pride in her work. While her health allowed, she enjoyed keeping in touch with high school friends and relatives.
For the last years of her life, Joann was a resident of Rosewood Manor (now Aspire Nursing and Rehabilitation) where she was treated with love and respect. She enjoyed word puzzles and reading.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers: Duane (Merllene) of Fair Oaks, CA; David (Mary) of Urbandale, IA; Brian of Estherville; also nieces (Sarah, Amanda, Stacie and Megan); great nieces and nephews (J, Kayla, Shayna, and Ty) and many other relatives.
