John Lenard Hattle

John Lenard Hattle, son of Larman and Leola (Godden) Hattle, was born on March 18, 1940 in Forest City, Iowa. John passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at his home in rural Armstrong, at the age of 80 years. Due to the current Covid Pandemic, Private family services will be held at this time, with a public memorial service taking place at a later date. Burial will take place at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery in Estherville.

John's family lived on a farm near Swea City until he was 10 years old, at that time they moved to the farm at Seneca. John graduated from Sentral High School in Fenton. Following graduation, he joined the family farming operation, where he did custom corn shelling for the neighborhood for 35 years. He married Connie Peterson on December 4, 1965 at Estherville Lutheran Church. To this union, two daughters were born.

He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church. He was a trustee of Seneca Township. John enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his shop. Traveling and being with his family and friends brought him great joy.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie Hattle of Armstrong; his daughters, Beth (Jim) Cejka of Lone Rock and Amy Hattle of Spirit Lake; and three grandchildren, Heidi (Steven) Esquibel; Cydnie and special friend, Jeremy and Jeffery Cejka.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Larman and Leola (Godden) Hattle; his brother, George Hattle; his father and mother-in-law; and his grandparents.
