Juanita Jane Mahin, 91, was born December 31, 1930, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Peggy (Baker) Billings. Juanita passed peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at her home at Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Estherville, Iowa, by Pastor Doug Burton. There will be a Remembrance in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at a future date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

Survivors include her daughters, Shari Mahin of Cedar Rapids, and Sheila Semler and Scott of Cedar Rapids; son, Don Mahin, Jr. and Kim Ruehle of Emmetsburg, Iowa; grandchildren: Amie Cilliers and Sarel, Amber Hammond and Anthony, Brandon Mahin and Akiko, Bryan Mahin and Karie, Matthew Mahin, and Darren Mahin; thirteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patty Billings; Ardis and Ed Koskovich, Bernita Yockey, Vera Yockey, Donna Mahin, Bill and Maxine Mahin, and Kenneth and Carol Mahin.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mahin, Sr.; son, Dennis Mahin; parents, Donald and Peggy Billings; brother, Don Billings; and Kenneth and Viola Mahin, Albert and Jackie Mahin, Darwin Mahin, Karel and Vere Harvey, Donnie Yockey, and Howard Yockey.

Juanita and Don Mahin were married on December 26, 1948, at First Christian Church in Estherville, Iowa. They farmed for over 30 years and 18 years in their excavating business in Emmet County.

Juanita was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. Faith and family were first. Juanita was a dedicated disciple, former deacon, elder, and volunteer at First Christian Church in Estherville for many years. She loved her flowers and garden club and won many awards. In 2006 Juanita and Don moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to be close to family. She loved to read, embroider, color, crafts, jewelry-making, watching Hallmark movies, Wheel of Fortune, and Golden Girls, and was a competitive game-player and loved ice cream.

She will be deeply missed and lives in the hearts of all who love her.

In lieu of flowers, honorary gifts can be shared with First Christian Church in Estherville, Iowa.
