Funeral services for Kathryn “Katie” Haywood, 95, of Estherville, were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. She entered her heavenly home on Jan. 13, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Center of Estherville.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Kathryn Pearl Haywood, daughter of Floyd and Theresa (Reinhardt) Sharar, was born on the home farm in rural Dunnell, Minn., on Jan. 6, 1928. 

Katie graduated from high school at Jackson, Minn. On October 29, 1950, she was united in married to Howard Haywood in Jackson. The couple made their home on a rural farm east of Estherville. Katie worked at Glasstite for 17 years. She enjoyed farm life and gardening. In her quiet time, she liked to sit and enjoy a good book or put together a puzzle. Katie was handy and refinished many pieces of furniture.

She was a founding member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville.

Katie is survived by her children Margaret (Larry) Howard of Estherville and Paul (Marcia) Haywood of Milford, seven granddaughters Laura (David) DeVary, Nicole (Dennis) Lawton, Kristine (Trevor) Eisenmenger, Melissa (Dave) Leraas, Andrea (Corey) Langner, Holly (Ryan) Baker, and Emily Haywood; great-grandchildren, Ali DeVary, Kyle DeVary, Justine Eisenmenger, Tucker Eisenmenger, Josephine Eisenmenger, Libby Leraas, Brenna Leraas, Seth Staydohar Grant Langner, Blake Baker and Zach Baker. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Klein.

Katie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, granddaughter Jennifer Howard, great-grandson Caleb, and two sisters.
