Funeral services for Lorraine Ellen Hoffmeyer, 78, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Joel Sadler officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She passed away on February 23, 2020 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville.
Lorraine Ellen Hoffmeyer, was born on Jan. 19, 1942, in Estherville, Iowa to Richard and Mary (Baker) Hanson.
Lorraine worked at PH Gray's during her junior and senior years of high school and graduated from Dolliver High School. Lorraine was united in marriage to Ronald Hoffmeyer on July 30, 1960 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson, Minn. The couple made their home in Estherville. After their first baby was born, Lorraine was a mom and homemaker for 12 years. After her children were in school, she worked at Berkley's for a short time before the family moved to Ivanhoe, Minn., in 1975 before moving back to Iowa in 1979. She then began her career at Pamida, where she worked for 33 1/2 years, retiring in 2011.
Lorraine was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville. She enjoyed garage sales and get togethers. She loved God, Joey (her dog), her husband of 59 years, Ron, family and friends, pretty much in that order.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Ron of Estherville; her children: Rick (DeeAnn) Hoffmeyer of Estherville, Brenda (Jerome) Brue of Sioux Falls, Heidi (Scott) Bakke of Sioux Falls, Kelly (Jeff) Kroenke of Estherville, Pam (Dave) Jones of Estherville, and Steve (Kim) Hoffmeyer of Ellis, S.D.; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Sandy (Bob) Hockett and Harold (Mary) Hanson.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Mary Hanson, her in-laws Louie and Mabel Hoffmeyer, her brother Jim Hanson, and her step-mother, Hulda.
