Funeral services for Lorraine M. Thornburg, 84, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 20, at Estherville Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at East Side Cemetery. She passed away at her home on Oct. 16, 2023, in rural Estherville.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Home, 401 N. 7th Street, Estherville.
Lorraine, the daughter of LeRoy and Virginia (Hansen) Dahna, was born on March 8, 1939, in Estherville, Iowa.
Lorraine attended Estherville Schools, she was united in marriage to Merlyn Thornburg on November 22, 1954, at Estherville Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Estherville where she took care of the home and family.
Lorraine was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church, where she was active in the circle, served on the funeral committee and quilting group. Lorraine enjoyed talking on the phone. She was a caretaker her entire life, especially taking the time to care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish Lorraine’s memory are her children, Roger (Cathy) Thornburg of Estherville; Myra Snyder (Special Friend Bob Sathoff) of Estherville; Danny (Kate) Thornburg of Fairmont, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Paul Thornburg, Kristen Albaugh, Allen Snyder, Laura Snyder, Sara Snyder, Joshua Thornburg, Jonathon Thornburg, Danyelle Hansen; 10 great grandchildren; Madison Snyder, Malaki Hansen, Isabelle Hansen, Blake Bresler, Brielle Beardsley, Elise Beardsley, Cody Vulich, Brayden Vulich, Quinn Thornburg, Isla Thornburg. She is also survived by her siblings Raymond (Kathy) Dahna of Estherville and Donna (Dale) Port of Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Merlyn; her siblings Betty Lowenberg, Darlene Olson, and Ronnie Hansen.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred.
