She married Ronald Clifford Olson in 1951, and they set up a household in Estherville, Iowa, and then moved to the Olson farm near Dolliver, Iowa, in 1956.  After her children were in school, Madge continued her teaching career at Lincoln Central Dolliver/Gruver for many years. In 1997, she and Ron moved to the West Okoboji Lake Harbor where she resided until 2023.

Madge is survived by her sons, Mark (Jeanne) Olson of Rochester, MN, Kurt (Melba) Olson of Ames, IA, and her daughter, Cathy (Roger) Thornburg of Estherville, IA. She leaves behind a legacy cherished by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her brother Dean Dahms of Maryland, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald in 2018, two brothers, Frederick and Rex Dahms, and sister-in-law, Velma Olney Stewart Simon.
