Funeral services for Marian E. Brunsvold, 85, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Nancy Isaacson officiating. Interment will be at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery, Estherville. Marian passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. 
Marian Elvera Brunsvold, the daughter of Einer and Helen (Hatland) Christensen was born on May 18, 1937, in Estherville, Iowa.
Marian graduated from Estherville High School in 1955 before attending Estherville Junior College for a year. She then transferred to Mankato State University, graduating with a Practical Nursing Degree in 1958.
Marian married Walter Brunsvold on September 19, 1959, in Estherville, Iowa. In 1961, Marian and Wally  moved to the Brunsvold farm located 5 miles north of Superior. Following the move to the farm, Marian became the best mother in Iowa, raising 4 children under the age of 5. In 1989, after the children were educated, Marian went to work as an office nurse for Dr. RP Bose in Estherville.
After retirement, Marian became very active in Spirit Lake and Iowa Lakes activities, being known as “Grandma Marian” with the camera.
In 2013, she was selected as Grand Marshal of Spirit Lake’s Homecoming and received the Hall Award for Outstanding Alumni. In 2019, she became one of the first inductees into the Iowa Lakes Music Hall of Fame and was president of the Iowa Lakes Alumni & Friends’ organization for many years.
She was a member of the Union State Line Lutheran Church where she taught pre-school for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband, Wally Brunsvold of Spirit Lake; her children, Scott Brunsvold, Wayne (Barb) Brunsvold, Chrisann (Dan) Etrheim, and Carla (Jeff) Jones; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard Christensen.
Marian is preceded in death by her parents, Einer and Helen (Hatland) Christensen and her brother, Charles. 
In lieu of flowers, Marian’s family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice.
