Milton Lawrence Prochaska, the second of twelve children was born to Leslie and Ludmilla (Beros) Prochaska on a farm northwest of Jackson, Minnesota, on January 21, 1937. He passed away at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa on August 19, 2023, at the age of 86 years. Funeral services for Milton will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Henry Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. A visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Milt will be laid to rest at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville.
Milt attended country school and continued to reside on the family farm near Windom, Minnesota for many years helping his dad farm. He later “junked” and enjoyed attending many auctions, buying up the iron. Milt moved to Estherville, Iowa several years ago. Attending the races in Jackson and Fairmont brought him great joy. In his later years he enjoyed wintering in Texas. Milt was diagnosed with dementia in early 2018.
Milt is survived by his beloved Linda of Estherville; daughter Tabitha (David) McInnis, and two grandsons Sebastian and Samuel McInnis, all of Worthington, Minnesota. He is also survived by his stepsons Cody Phillips of Irving, Texas, and Gary W. Phillips of Estherville; and his good buddy Dan Schrieber. Also surviving Milton are his siblings Kay Hummel, Lola Bergman, Shirley Carter, Patricia Prochaska, Robert Prochaska, Donna Grove, Sharon Werner, and Gary Prochaska and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ludmilla; his brothers Leonard Prochaska and Gerald Prochaska; and his sister Diana Basta.
