A graveside services for Orin William Aanonson, 81, of Estherville, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2020, at High Lake Cemetery, rural Wallingford, with Pastor Fred Dykhuizen officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., July 30, 2020, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Orin William Aanonson, son of Peter and Evva (Haines) Aanonson, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at his home in Estherville. He was born on May 28, 1939 in Estherville, Iowa.

Orin graduated from Gruver High School before enlisting in the United States Army serving overseas in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1964.

He married the love of his life, Sharon Manley, on July 31, 1960. The couple was blessed with four children, Brenda, Orin Jr., Brian and Aaron. They made their home on the farm in rural Ringsted, that has been in the family since 1881. Their son, Brian, continues to farm the family land. In 2008, they moved to Estherville.

Orin was a member of the Country Lutheran Church, the VFW and the American Legion. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his later years, he enjoyed puzzles, going to farm sales, and spending time with grandchildren, family, and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Aanonson; his children, Brenda (David) Luehring and Brian (Jane) Aanonson; 9 grandchildren: Karen, Heather, Aaron, Tina, Steve, Elsa, Michelle, Emily, and Nick; 13 great-grandchildren: daughter-in-law, Denise Aanonson; brother-in-law Tom Manley, as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Orin is preceded in death by two sons, Orin Aanonson Jr. and Aaron Aanonson; his parents, Peter and Evva Aanonson; sisters, Ollie Fry, Pearl Fry, and Verna McGregor; and brother-in-law Kenny Manley.
