Richard Lee Cody Sr, 74, of Estherville, died Monday, September 18, 2023, in his home.
Richard was born December 28, 1948, in Estherville to Alvin and Beverly (Eide) Cody, and graduated from Estherville High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1970, where he served honorably for two years. After his discharge he continued his education at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, and Mankato State University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Richard worked in sales and retired at the age of 55. He was a member of the Good News Church, and loved betting on NFL football games, golfing, NASCAR racing, and traveling to visit his brother in California.
Richard is survived by his children Richard (Cindy) Cody, Robert Cody, Jesse Cody (Jamie) and Adam (Jill) Cody; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Russell Cody; and 5 half-siblings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Randy Cody.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.
